There never seems to be a convenient time to fast and pray.
Life will often be fast paced, filled with distractions and responsibilities. But once you
embrace fasting as a Godly practice, approach it with the Holy Spirits conviction.

In Matthew 6:16-18 Jesus talks about fasting.
Matthew 6:16-18
Fasting to Be Seen Only by God
16 “Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
Notice how Jesus says when you fast… Not if you fast. This implies that fasting is expected in your spiritual journey.
There is power in daily repetition.
Especially when practiced for 21 days. Even Daniel recognized the power of 21-day intercession,
and he received on the last day an impartation of wisdom and insight.
What if I don't have an experience like Daniel after the 21 days?
Understand all is not lost and time was not wasted. It’s more about your life after these 21 days. The principles of prayer and fasting will still sow seeds into your relationship with Christ beyond the fast.
Is food the only thing I can fast from?
Though the scriptures talk about fasting from food you can actually fast many other things. The goal is to be fasting something that has a grip on your life. In other words, something pulling you away from God. Things like tv/media, social media, video games, drinking/alcohol, spending money on things you don’t need, negative talk, etc.
What if I fail or mess up? Is there grace for that?
We must understand that we serve a God of love, grace and mercy. It’s not about perfection and a legalistic mindset. If you mess up God is there to help you get back up and keep going.
The most important fruit from these 21 days
What’s most important is a stronger intimacy with Jesus and a readiness for what He has for you, your family, and our church.
