Alignment Sounds Like Surrender

Jul 5, 2026    Nate Schaefer

In this message from Luke 22:39–46, we look at Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane and learn what true surrender sounds like.

Jesus prayed, “Not my will, but yours be done.” This is one of the hardest prayers any follower of Christ can pray. It is easy to trust God when His will matches ours, but surrender begins when His will leads us somewhere we would not choose on our own.

This sermon explores how prayer is not about convincing God to align with us, but about allowing our hearts to align with Him. Through Jesus’ example, we learn that alignment is honest, alignment chooses trust, and alignment receives strength.

If you are walking through something difficult, asking God to remove the cup, or struggling to surrender control, this message will encourage you to trust the Father’s will and receive His strength.
