The Passion Story
Passion Church was established in 2014 under the leadership of Scott Schaefer. From its infancy, a culture of passionate praise and Biblical unity held the heartbeat of this little plant church in the mall in Davenport Iowa.
In early 2017 , God began to stir in Scott’s son Nate (the Praise Leader at the time) the desire for something different. What began as a job search for music positions at churches around the country eventually lead his family and his heart right back where they started, at Passion. God began to develop a Pastor’s heart in Nate and reveal an expanded vision for evangelism and discipleship for Passion Church. Nate never set out to be a pastor but the calling was undeniable and in fall of 2017 the mantle of Lead Pastor was passed on from father to son.
At its core, Passion is a church devoted to doing church the way we believe the Bible talks about; a family of Christ followers loving each other and working toward one common goal, knowing Jesus and making Him known.

Our Vision
We exist to help people know God, find community,
and identify their purpose to serve and make a difference.
Our spiritual journey consists of four steps:
1. KNOW GOD
At Passion we desire to see people come to know God and grow deep in relationship with Him as Lord and savior of their lives.
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

2. FIND COMMUNITY
Part of growing in our relationship with God is entering into community with other believers. As we do life together we should be growing in our understanding of who God is and how much he loves his family.
24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

3. IDENTIFY PURPOSE
We are all created with unique gifts and abilities. At Passion we want to help you identify who God has created you to be.
11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the [a]saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;

4. TO SERVE AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Our giftings are not just meant for us. God wants to use them to serve His family and minister to the world.
3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus.

1. Know God
We consider reaching people who do not know God personally to be one
of our greatest responsibilities. Our Sunday services are for people at all
stages in their spiritual journey.

1. CELEBRATION
We believe church should be a place we can celebrate and enjoy what God is doing.

3. PREPERATION
We believe church should be a place where people learn how the Bible applies to their daily lives.

4. SALVATION
We believe church should be a place where people can accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

As we continue to reach people far from God, every one of us can do our part by following these four principles:

1. “In Jerusalem” — In Our City/Region
“Real religion, the kind that passes muster before God the Father, is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight.”

The primary way we reach our cities is through our Sunday service, Outreach events, and Life Groups.
2. “In Judea and Samaria” — In Our Nation
“As they traveled from town to town, they presented the simple guidelines the Jerusalem apostles and leaders had come up with. That turned out to be most helpful. Day after day the congregations became stronger in faith and larger in size.”

The primary way we reach our nation is by starting new churches and strengthening existing churches.
3. “To the ends of the earth” — Our World
“Jesus said to His followers, ‘Go everywhere in the world, and tell the Good News to everyone.’”

The primary way we reach our world is through strategic missions. At Passion, we intentionally invest a portion of our resources in missions work all around the world with a focus on unreached people groups, children, and church planting.
How you can participate:
1. Pray
Pray that we might reach people in each of these areas with the Good News of Jesus.
“Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.’”

Give your time and resources to reach people for Christ.

Go to our cities, nation, and world to serve others and show people the love of God.

We believe life change happens in the context of relationships. Life Groups have one simple purpose: to bring people together. God created us to live in community with others, and it is only then that we can experience the full life He intends for us.
Life groups provide three things:
1. A place to Connect with others.

We were not made to do life alone. God created us for community, and Life Groups provide a place for you to connect with others, share life, and grow in faith together.

When we do life together, our problems become smaller as God uses others to bring support and encouragement to our lives. Life Groups become a place where others don’t just know your name but care about what is happening in your life and want to support you in your spiritual journey.

We believe every person is created with God-given potential to make a difference in the world. Life Groups are a place you can grow with others to become more like Jesus and reach the potential God has put inside you.
Passion Church Life Groups Model
We base our Life Groups model on the early church as described in the Bible in the book of Acts. In Acts, you can read about how small group meetings in homes helped lay the foundation for tremendous growth in the first church in Jerusalem.

Passion Church is a church of Small Groups, not a church with Small Groups.
Life groups provide three things:
1. A place to Connect with others.

Four things to know about Passion Life Groups:
1. Our groups are “free market.”
We want people to gather together based on things they enjoy and are important to them. Essentially, the things you are already doing in your life are the things that can make up your Life Group! From sports groups to lunch groups, parenting groups to student groups, Bible study groups to creative arts groups, our groups are as varied as we are. All groups fall within seven hubs:
1. Our groups are “free market.”
We want people to gather together based on things they enjoy and are important to them. Essentially, the things you are already doing in your life are the things that can make up your Life Group! From sports groups to lunch groups, parenting groups to student groups, Bible study groups to creative arts groups, our groups are as varied as we are. All groups fall within seven hubs:

Life flows in seasons, and we want to make it easy for you to be in the right Life Group for you in each season. This is why we have new groups that start and stop three times a year in what we refer to as “semesters.”

3. Identify Purpose
Passion Next Steps exists to help you discover and develop your purpose and live the full life God created for you. Next Steps is made up of a two step process, which guides you through your journey to know God, find community, identify purpose, and serve to make a difference.

4.MAKE A DIFFERENCE
All of us were created by God to make a difference in the world around us. God has a place for you where your unique abilities and passions can impact the lives of others. We believe your life will never make sense until you find, develop, and fulfill your purpose.

At Passion Church

Passion Church Government
As you consider investing your heart, time, family, and finances into the life of a church, it is important for you to feel confident in church leadership. Our goal in sharing the details of Passion’s government is that you will understand that our church is structured to support the values of integrity, accountability, and spiritual authority.
Our church government is made up of two groups:
1. Led by Pastors
The Executive Leadership Team and Staff is led by Pastor Nate Schaefer. This team oversees the day-to-day ministry and operations of the church. They serve the congregation and are responsible for the development of the spiritual life of the church.
2. Guided by Elders
Our Elders are male members of the congregation appointed by the Lead Pastor and Executive Leadership Team to oversee the finances, be the spiritual covering of the church, and direct the provision of the facilities needed by the church. They provide counsel to the Lead Pastor regarding the major financial commitments and direction of the church.
Our church government is made up of two groups:
1. Led by Pastors

Giving is one of the central themes in the Bible. Jesus talked more about this subject than Heaven, Hell, or prayer. To understand what it means to be a Christ-follower, we must also understand what it means to be a giver.
1. Tithe

Statement Of Faith
Holy Bible

Trinity

Jesus Christ

Sanctification

Jesus’ Blood
The Blood that Jesus Christ shed on the Cross of Calvary was sinless and is 100% sufficient to cleanse mankind of all sin. Jesus allowed Himself to be punished for both our sinfulness and our sins, enabling all those who believe to be free from the penalty of sin, which is death.

Jesus Christ Indwells All Believers
Christians are people who have invited the Lord Jesus Christ to come and live inside them by His Holy Spirit. They put their trust in what Jesus accomplished for them when He died, was buried, and rose again from the dead.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit

All believers are commanded to earnestly desire the manifestation of the gifts in their lives. God’s Will for Provision

Resurrection
Jesus Christ was physically resurrected from the dead in a glorified body three days after His death on the cross. In addition, both the saved and the lost will be resurrected; those that are saved to the resurrection of life and those that are lost to the resurrection of eternal damnation.

Heaven

Developing Your Leadership
“God has given each of you a gift from His great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”

Leadership is influence. Nothing more. Nothing less. It is about influencing others for a worthwhile cause. It is not dependent on titles or positions. It is dependent on people discovering their gifts and passions and then using them to make a difference in the lives of others.
